History

Martin Medical Legal Consulting evolved in 2003 and provides legal and global consulting with 15 years of experience. Practicing as a registered nurse, with emphasis on Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit in Level 1, 2, & 3 trauma facilities, from the east coast to the west coast, Bernadette Martin Ruggles created a business as a legal nurse consultant.

At MMLC, she continues to provide expertise and professionalism to a variety of clients including attorneys, medical providers, nurses, and patients. With over 30 years of experience as a seasoned nurse, she maintains a multitude of hands-on experience in direct patient care. Her career path has taken her to various parts of the country from Salisbury, MD to Spokane, WA and her current location of San Francisco, CA.

Bernadette Martin Ruggles

Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Bernadette is originally from Washington, D.C. She obtained her BSN and MSN from The Catholic University of America and has worked in a Level 1 Trauma facility in ICU/ER for most of her career, beginning with Washington Hospital Center and George Washington University Hospital. She gradually migrated west to LAC+USC Medical Center and UCLA. During the CoVID-19 pandemic, she has been employed on a per diem basis with Seton Medical Center as Administrative Nurse Supervisor. Presently, she is employed as Manager, Nursing Education at Dignity Health St. Mary's Medical Center and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, CA.

Although hospital based, she has been responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating, and revising various continuous education programs. She has enhanced measures to meet federally regulated demands for meaningful use incentives with electronic health records (EHR) as well as provided opportunities to educate the public sector and its comprehensive litigators to determine causation and damage issues as related to nursing standards of care. She has had a very rewarding career in nursing and believes it is only just the beginning.
